YOUR HOLIDAY WISH LIST

Our computer system allows you to open a wish list – great for spouses, friends, and family who are looking for just the right holiday gift for you.  All we need to do is scan your desires onto your customer page – it’s as simple as that!  So, if there is that book you’ve longed for, or that Noro yarn that seems to be just out of reach, or some more of your favorite needles, now is the time to let the world know that YOU WANT THIS!

INTERNET HINT FOR KNITTERS

Cascade Yarns has put most of its patterns on the internet at www.cascadeyarns.com.  There are some really cute kid’s sweaters fronted with a bear, a bunny or a kangaroo, designed by children’s knitwear designer Amy Bahrt of NYC.  Search under Sierra and 220Superwash to find the patterns.

KITTY KNITS

We have seen many dog coat patterns come out.  Cat lovers, do not despair! Finally there is knitting book with projects for Cats and Their People. Kitty Knits includes kitty toys, placemat with goldfish decoration for kitty’s dish, and a kitty bed.  For cat lovers the book offers hat, sweater, and sock patterns with kitty motifs.  Here is the book for you, Roberta, Tracy, and whoever else is smitten with kittens!!!  Coming soon!

FURNISHED ROOM WANTED:

Kristin Strom, a medical professional from Pittsburgh who consults in Cumberland several days a week is looking for a furnished room to rent within 10 miles of the hospitals.  She is a regular at Millicent’s, spends her free (ie lonely) time here with us knitting away.  We recommend her warmly.  Leave your name at Millicent’s (301-722-8100) and Kristin will call you back.

KNITTING DVDs FOR RENT FROM MILLICENT’S

We are making a library of DVD’s available to our customers for 3-day rentals.  To start we have  Sock 1: How to Knit Socks on Two Circular Needles and Sock II: How to Knit Two Socks at the SAME TIME on Two Circular Needles.  We hope to build our lending library so that you can add to your skill level at your leisure.  The three-day rental will cost $6.00, and we will need to take your credit card number for security.

WINTER MAGAZINES

We have received the winter issue of Interweave Knits and Interweave Knits Holiday Gifts.  We also have several copies of the Special Collector’s
25th Anniversary Issue of Vogue Knitting and of Interweave Felt.  The Vogue is an issue that should be in every knitter’s library, and the Interweave Felt is the first is its kind.  Purchasing it lets Interweave know that we want more.  Please support your local yarn shop when you buy your magazines and books.

SOCK OF THE MONTH CLUB

This month’s meeting is on Sunday, Dec. 2 only (no Wednesday meeting in December)

KNITTER’S and CROCHETER’S SURVEY:  Ask and you will receive!

The months of January through April are prime time for knitters and crocheters to be building skills and trying new techniques.  We would like to know what kind of classes you would like us to offer this winter so that we can best support you in your knitting and crocheting skills.

Please take a moment to fill out this survey.  Your feedback helps us enormously.

Project Classes (ie. felted hats, argyle socks, sweaters, whatever your heart desires!)  Is there something we haven’t offered in a long time that you would like to revisit?  Sometimes when you have a project you long to make, several others will want the same.  Just let us know!

Technique Classes (ie. color work, intarsia, entralac, socks on two circular needles, lacework, etc).  Look into your books and magazines and give us some idea of techniques you’d like to learn.  Would you like to have classes in tatting and embroidery?
