NEW PRODUCT:  Needle Felting Kits to fill your Easter Baskets

We have brought in darling felting kits:  packaged in clear egg-cartons, they contain a felted egg-shaped body and all the roving you’ll need for creature details, plus any other supplies you’ll need, including felting needles.  Our kits feature, sheep, chickens, frogs, rabbits, or songbirds – and each kit has the materials for making two creatures.  At $25.50, this is a great gift for an  child from 7 years and even a teen, and a wonderful parent/grand-parent-child project to share.

***Look for our a parent/grandparent-child class on

Saturday April 4 under our class listings.***

NEW YARN FROM HIGHLAND FARM, GARRETT COUNTY

Linda Shane from Highland Farm in Accident presented me with her beautiful yarns to sell at Millicent’s recently. She sends her sheep’s fleece to Bartlett Mill in Maine to be dyed and mule spun. (Barlett’s has been in the milling business since the early 1800s!)   The yarn is not processed in any way – it is 100% wool filled still with fragrant lanolin, it is to be hand washed, and it will knit up heavy warm mittens and hats and boot socks --   the kind your grandparents wore to keep off the winter weather.   This yarn also makes up warm and rugged sweaters. And here’s the best part of this yarn:  it comes in approximately 200 yard hanks priced at a low $8.95. We have a good selection of natural colors and more and can easily order required yardage for sweaters.  Come has a look – and a sniff!

FUNDRAISING FOR A HEIFER PROJECT “KNITTING BASKET”

The Heifer International Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps people in third-world countries by presenting them with farm animals and the prospect of supporting themselves and their families.  There will be a fundraiser for fiberholics to raise money toward a “Knitting Basket”: 2 sheep and 2 llama on Saturday, April 11 from 10 -4 at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Lee Street, Cumberland.  A light tea luncheon will be served. The small fee of $15 will go directly toward the “Knitting Basket.”   Knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, felters are all invited to bring their current project to work in community.  The goal is to raise $500 -- bet we could do it! For more information, please call Kathy Kinsman at 301-777-1407.

Kathy is also looking for fiber folk who would like to do demonstrations for small groups of people.  I know any number of you would be good candidates to do this.  Again, please call Kathy Kinsmen at 301-777-1407 for more information.

ARE YOU A SENIOR?

If you are a senior (in our books, that’s over 65), then you are entitled to a 50% discount on all classes.  Please let us know when you register!

BONUS DOLLARS – Our bonus dollar program is not doing what we would like it to do – ugh..  It does add up your purchases (not including class tuition) to a $250 total.  NOW we will offer you a 5 % discount on your NEXT purchase made when that $250 total is signaled.  Forgive us our fumbling with this program – we will get it right eventually!  Unfortunately, we are unable to backtrack with this program.  We are all starting fresh as of now!
